It could be a walk through the neighborhood or a drive or flight far from home. Whatever form the trip may take, we snap a random picture at the turnaround point.
It’s a tiny gesture, really, an easy means of saying we were here. Of drawing a virtual line in the virtual sand. Of marking it for next time, when maybe we’ll go a little further, stay out a little longer.
We’ll often send these random pictures home, another way of letting the folks who matter most know that we’re ok. That we’ll be home soon.
From the look on Calli the Wonderschnauzer’s face, it’a a tradition she can clearly live without.
