Starting to change

We're enjoying an unseasonably warm stretch in this part of the world, which makes it easy to forget that the first few leaves of autumn have already begun their lonely trip onto the ground and eventually into oblivion.

So as we headed in from playtime on the lawn before supper last night, I grabbed the camera, parked myself under the canopy of our beloved maple tree, and tried to capture some images of how a late afternoon sun paints the backside of its remaining leaves.

Soon these leaves will be gone as well. When the canopy of green is replaced by a blanket of white, I'll look at these pictures and remember how warm my face felt as I took them.

Your turn:
  1. This picture makes you feel like...
  2. And here's another photographic challenge (sorry, I can't resist): grab your own camera, look for an image that says "autumn" to you, and post it to your own blog. Drop a comment here when you do to ensure we know where to find it. Happy shooting!
Click the image for the requisite extreme closeup.

Well, wonderful picture! I truly enjoy such images since I live among pine trees. Which are pine green. All-year-around. All we experience are different sunshine shades through the year.Yes, sunny Spain. Hope I am making sense. Looking forward to a new digital camera, though!

Carmi, I love the backlit photo and the vein detail in the larger version is exquisite. It makes me think life-giving fluids coursing through veins, carrying nourishment to every part of the leaf. That's just as it happens in our bodies, and in the world, networks of veins, or roads, or skylanes, etc. carrying nourishment and goods to all parts of the world.

Just gorgeous. Autumn is my absolute favorite time of the year and it's Fall that reminds me how much I love living in Maryland.

So green. So colourful as the seasons turn through the valley & mountains.

Autumn, and this photo, remind me of "home".

Ok. This is too weird. I posted a similar photo challenge (the same but different) on my site yesterday before stopping by your site. I love fall except it doesn't exist in Calgary. Either way Carmi -- there is a photo of Calgary this morning on my site...

Great photo - I've just published a similar challenge at rashbre central! We should link 'em all together!
