Sometimes, we come across a sign that stops us in our tracks. These days, people sue for virtually no reason - McDonald's and hot coffee, anyone? - so it's a logical assumption that retailers are simply covering their assets by posting signs like this.
Although I understand the logic, what this trend says about the spirit of society is more than a little depressing.
Your turn: Have you come across any similar stating-the-obvious-type signs?

I like it, Carmi - the inherent irony is marvelous!
And having been married to a smoker, I'd have to agree with the necessity - a lot of them seem to forget their butts are, you know, BURNING, when they flick them away.
My hair dryer has a tag that says not to use while sleeping. The one about water I could see...but sleeping?!?!?
I drove past a sign that says "Caution Water on Road During Rain"
How about this one: "Do not use this iron to iron clothes you are currently wearing".
when the tubes were bombed recently there were big motorway signs saying "avoid london area closed"
