Blinding

I like texture, I like light, and I like patterns. This one combines all three. It isn't earth-shattering in its uniqueness, but I figure since these blinds are often in view while I work at the kitchen table and stare out at the neighborhood, I may as well capture them for posterity.

Your turn: Windows and the doodads that surround and cover them can present all sorts of photographic challenges. What are you seeing out your windows right now? Bonus points if you snap it and post the link in a comment.

One more thing: Here's a hint for the most recent photographic mystery (part 1, part 2). Mme. Tussaud.

Out my windows here on the 2nd floor, I see only leaves, masses of leaves. I'd shoot them, but the camera is downstairs.

The room I'm in right now---I don't see anything out my windows because the shutters are closed!

Hey Carmi...have you given up on me? I never see you anymore. Boo Hoo! Did I do something to offend you? Gee, I hope not.

One of the first photos I took in photography class in college was the play of light as it seeped thru blinds and rested on other objects in the room. Blinds provide great effects! This one is wonderful.

Oops - I forgot to answer the question. Outside my window I see some plants that need water and a patio that needs to have the leaves blown off. Let me just close those blinds right away before I do something crazy like go out there...

I am seeing darkness. Usually I can see a very popular Italian grocery with a line out the door on Saturdays for fresh mozzarella cheese that people around here refer to as simply "mutz." And in the morning, lately, around, um, SIX, I see a cat howling at the moon or crying because he's too lazy to crawl under the blinds. Or he's just sticking his head in between the blinds. And then at 9ish, when I am exhausted and have to go to work, he is curled up on my bed ready for a nap. Do you want a cat? Cheap?

Ah! Ha! A candle. The dimple in the middle is the wick.

Taking pictures of birds outside my window is fun and challenging because of the screen. I always end up with a dark little grid.

Speaking of birds, they are having a hey day with the figs right now. Mockingbirds, robins, even doves are pecking away. They are so brazen that they didn't even fly away when I went out to pick; they just sat in the high branches and screamed at me. Wait. I better go check in the mirror to make sure they didn't do something else on a more gross nature!
