Waiting...

Have a seat
London, ON, October 2007

The week before Zach's bar mitzvah (see here for more) was a blur of activity for all of us. I think I spent more time in the car, shuttling everyone back and forth, than I did at home. At one of his final rehearsals at the synagogue, I didn't want to disturb him as he practiced in the sanctuary with our cantor. So I sat quietly in the entryway outside, listening for encouraging sounds from the other side of the door and wondering about this place I had so often been in but had never really taken the time to appreciate.

I thought about all the people who have sat in that chair, looked out those windows, come to this place looking for an opportunity to reflect back and project forward. I'm glad I took my camera out, because every time I see this photo, I'm reminded of a peaceful moment in the middle of an otherwise busy time in our family's life.

Your turn: What are you thinking as you take in this scene?

Carmi, I thought of a wing of a hospital, a place at the end of some lonely corridor where someone goes to think about troubling news ... or to make decisions. I've looked at many of your photos. Great style. I like pictures that show odd angles or the insignificant. Very nice.

I thought about the peace after the end of pain or after death. It looked like the direction to the better place.

I thought of "movement."

I looked into this still photo and just saw the waves of different numbers of people passing by this spot and began to wonder why they might be there.

I love the movie "Plaza Suite" where there are scenes of three seperate parties using the same hotel suite... so I am thinking of things like that with this photo.

Leave it to me to think wonder if that chaise is comfortable, how would it look in my bedroom with green upholstery?

I like the lighting. Beautiful and soft feeling. Question: where did you get the widget for the blogger's choice awards? And yes, of course I voted for you!

I think serenity when I see that photo, Carmi. And it makes me wonder how many people have sat there and reflected on their lives.

Carmi- you are so good about stopping and savoring the moment. I try to do this as much as possible...but lately it seems like I am just rushing through the year to get to Dec 21.....kind of sad.

Reminder to self.....slow down and catch the feelings of the every day!
