Wordless Wednesday - Fido not welcome

Too graphic?
Port Stanley, ON
September 2008
About this photo: We've been touching on sign-themed photos all week long. As this latest Thematic Photographic theme winds down, you've still got time to share your own by heading here. What's next week's theme? Scroll down...
Two thoughts come to mind when I see a sign like this:
  • People are really dumb.
  • They're also inconsiderate, and they ruin it for all of us.
Which saddens me. Because if people would simply pick up after themselves and their pets, signs like this wouldn't be needed in the first place. And if they weren't so thick-skulled, we wouldn't need painted-on strings of flying poo to illustrate the point in excruciating detail.

Needless to say, my kids thought this was laughably absurd.

Your turn: If dogs could read. Please discuss.

What's up tomorrow? A new Thematic Photographic theme, of course! I'll post the first entry of the week at exactly 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. To give y'all a chance to mull over the topic, here it is:

Single

I know it seems a little bizarre, but it's actually quite simple. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as there's only ONE in the frame. Time to get churning on a topic that's bound to spawn some wondrously creative contributions.

Oh this should be easy... Single. A week of self portraits. I'm kidding of course. Can't wait to see what this brings out...

Well you have to give the sign painter credit for a sense of humor at least. There have been more times than I can count I've wanted to put such a sign on my lawn. (I have some pretty inconsiderate neighbors apparently.)

Meanwhile, I'll wrap up Sign Week with this different kind of pseudo rant.

Thematic Photographic 50: "Signs" v.7.0

That IS rather graphic!

I love the British signs of "No Fouling." fouling just sounds so much better than pooping or defacating or whatever else we Americans come up with.

Seeing as how the sign only specifies canines, could one surmise that people-pooping is allowed?
(that would be by people, not of people, by the way.)
or people-pooping not pooping-people.Peter Pooper pooped a people. If Peter Pooper pooped a people, how many people could Peter Pooper poop?

Way too much time on my hands perhaps?

It's the same here in Calif, people are inconsiderate until it concerns themselves then they expect courtesy from others. When will people learn that being kind towards others brings it back to yourself?

Then we will bring cats there. ;D

What a funny sign. In a sad sort of way. Like you said, unfortunately, the foolishness of a few ruins things for the rest of the population.

Can't believe I totally missed the SIGN theme. I have a few good shots, but have been a little wrapped up in hubby's new business venture.

Your commenters are hysterical on this one!!

I thought it was hilarious. Atleast they leave the reason why they don't want the dogs there. I get really aggitated when I see owners no picking up after themselves and their pets! it's not fun stepping in dog mess.

I find it kind of funny, never seen a sign just like it either.

I'm with your kids - that flying poo moves the sign from simply informative to utterly ridiculous.

Sorry Carmi, I know I'm deliberately missing the point, but I apparently have the sense of humor of a 9 year old.

I think the sign is more likely to get laughed at but it conveys the message clearly.

happy WW!

That doggie must be thinking "why are sausages coming out of my poop hole?"

This also made me think of a sign I posted a while back when we visited the beach.

NO signs always make me angry, I mean what can you do at the beach??

Here it is

Sometimes, it takes a graphic image such as this sign to get the attention of stupid and inconsiderate people. I agree that it takes only a few of them to ruin it for the rest.

Where I walk, the park ranger has had to put up additional signs to remind people to obey the original.

But, they don't.

Fortunately, I am a dog lover and I don't mind the dogs coming up to greet me - although I do get a little upset when they also shake the river water off on my dry clothes.

It's just those piles laying around that one occasionally steps in and later has to scrape out of the shoe treads. arrgh, gag.

LOL!
It is absurd. Unfortunately, I don't think people don't know...I think they choose to ignore...
I have also wanted those signs for my lawn as well...Gotta love the dog walkers who are inconsiderate enough to let Fido go on my lawn...

Well, we have a road sign here in Hudson. Quebec, down by the duck pond. It is a pic of a mother duck and 3 little babies. They look like they're coming out of her behind. The sign is for people to slow down as ducks may be crossing the street.

To me it looks like mommy duck is pooing little baby ducks. You can tell where my mind is!

Wish we have these signs in Manila. Just to keep the environment and th place clean. For the dogs, it will keep them safe getting hit by vehicles :)
