Stalking from above

Crossing multiple paths
Chicago, IL
May 2012
Thematic. Travel travel. Here.

This scene brings me a certain degree of peace. I'm not sure if it's the geometry, the splash of color toward the bottom, or just the jangle of intersecting lives that this transient spot seems to represent. Perhaps it the flashback to the childhood me, playing with my toy cars and trucks, imagining a world bigger than my fat little fingers, reaching out and trying to control every last detail.

My fingers are no longer quite as fat, and I still couldn't control the goings-on down there. But as we climbed into the sky and left this place behind, I felt good that for a brief moment I was able to drink it in and make it mine. I wonder how many other folks on the plane were able to do the same.

Your turn: Who's down there? What's their story?

People who wish they weren't in traffic!

I've driven through there. There's exits where you have to have to correct change for tolls, or a pass. Well if you're just passing through, sux for you.

Chicago is a wonderful City to visit! And it s much easier to get around if you know someone who lives there.

I lived in Chicago until the age of 11 and then in the subburb's until 8 years ago. I agree that at times, the traffic can be overwhelming, but for me ... I hated construction season, which is about 8 months out of the year.

Just a note ... many states have toll roads; Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Oklahoma, etc, and yes... the secret is to have "The Pass" to avoid the lines of traffic.

This is why I became a pilot. Can see a view like that anytime I like (if I can afford it, and it's not in restricted airspace)

As a huge lover of nature all of think of when I see that view is we need greater emphasis on population control. Too much of a Mad Max vibe for me.
