Peachy!

Bet you can't eat just one

When you live in the middle of some of the most productive agricultural lands on the planet, you’ll be stopping at farmers markets alongside more rural roads than you’ll ever be able to count.

Which explains how we found these peaches on display not far from Talbotville, where they used to make Ford Pintos.

It was a hot and humid Sunday afternoon, and we needed a change of scenery. It’s been a common theme since the pandemic began, this ongoing need to bust out a little - safely, of course - and spend a bit of time somewhere else than home.

These escapes don’t last long, nor are they terribly consequential to the trajectory of Planet Earth. They aren’t remotely life-changing, either.

But they are essential in their own way. And somehow, staring at a perfect bunch of peaches, surrounded by some of my favorite people, becomes the most important thing I can do for my, and our, mental health on this sultry afternoon.

We’re witnessing history. And it is changing us. One fruit, one afternoon, one random wander through the countryside at a time.

So let’s wander.
