Nuts

Your turn: I can't put my finger on it, but these remind me of something. Anyone want to hazard a guess or two?

Quick aside: Why this pic? Simple: a new grocery store opened up in our neighborhood. So, without anything better to do on a Saturday night, we loaded the kids into the wondervan and went on an adventure. The place seemed somewhat overstaffed - typical for a new store, because they want customers to think the store will always have an abundance of folks prowling the aisles just begging to help lost customers....we know the truth, however. But I digress.

Zach and I set off in search of photographic targets of opportunity. We felt like kids exploring a brand new playground. It was all so fresh and clean. Pretty soon it'll be a depressing big box store, just like every other depressing big box store. But for a little while anyway, it was fun to wander the pristine rows and think about all the possibilities. Zach did the spotting and I did the shooting: he thought the nuts would be cool. I think his photographic judgment is better than mine.

Yeah, we definitely need to get out more.

Ha! You do need to get out more. ;) Just teasing. Your boy has a good eye alright.

Peeking by way of Michele's tonight.

I never go into a grocery store unless I'm armed with my camera. Whether I'm taking pictures of foreign bugs on the broccoli, or the fish counter (just for the halibut), the camera always seems to come in handy. Dropped in from Michele's. I think I might throw you on my blogroll, so I can visit you properly from time to time.

You'll be sitting with the Canadians, correct?

Hi Carmi! I noticed your name on Michele's meet and greet list and thought I'd pop in to say hello...

Did management ask you why you were taking photos? Usually in Australia, photography is not allowed in supermarkets (and probably other stores too) without permission from the owner/manager.

Terrific, clear photo of the nuts. Nice one.

Have a good day.

Hey there down ye ole 401.

Michelle's nutty game got me here...twice. You're good to put up a new post. I was lazy. I sent people to my other blog.

My Calendar Girl Menopause Blog from Guelph.

I would have opted for the pistachios or pecans myself but then again, I'm not the spotter that my kids are either.

You are teaching him to really SEE what his eyes behold. Good for you, Carmi!

Michele sent me tonight.

Your son had a great eye! Everytime I have visted here from Michele's I have seen interesting pictures along with your words, so he must get that from his Dad.

Michele sent me. Oh, and your nuts remind me of Thanksgiving...with my family...it's full of nuts (including myself--ha!)

Hey, Michele sent me again. One last stab at the weekend meet-n-greet. The very first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was squirrels! I was thinking how happy those nuts would make the squirrels around here. We have a bunch and Sweet Girl and I enjoy watching them. There is one guy who got SO FAT for winter that we are amazed he can balance on top of the fence and look at us through our kitchen window, but he does... and he would LOVE those nuts!

nighty night!

I think it makes a brilliant photo. I don't see nuts with actual real shells on them much anymore, they seem to come more in a bag ready to eat

see.....I lead a sheltered life too!

Oh damn, I have tried to leave you a message three times and it won't work.

I am trying to say that I like the nuts...errr..I mean I like the photo of the nuts.

I wish I saw nuts with shells more often, nowadays they seem to always be in a bag ready to eat...how dull.

see...I lead a sheltered life too.

ps: I am going to be so embarrased if all my messages post....

okay I exaggerated...i only tried to message on your blog twice before i saw the message saying you have to approve them first

...dur...now i really am embarrased!!

Hi, popped by of my own accord and saw your picture of a load of brains, or was it walnuts?

Next time you go to that adequately staffed supermarket, ask "Where are the Depends.... Hurry!" while you empty out an apple juice box in your pocket.

i believe i spotted an almond in with your walnuts!!!
enjoy the overstaffed store while it lasts, i'll bet none of them knew where anything was.

This is the third time that I've looked at these nuts and I've come to the conclusion that they look like petrified brains. That's kinda gross, but that's what my brain is telling me they look like!
Go figure!
