Eat up

I've learned an important lesson over the years: buffet-style restaurants lose money on me. I don't look like I could eat people under the table, but for some reason, I've always had a relatively huge appetite that betrays the fact that I could stand to gain a few pounds.

So while we're away from the craziness that is suburban life, I find myself eating. A lot. To wit, here's part of yesterday's breakfast.

I think it's time to head out for some more.

Your turn: What's for breakfast in your neck of the woods? What do you really want for breakfast?

And you are just like my husband...he can eat all day and still be skinny...me not so much

I used to be that way too, Carmi, skinny as a rail, but able to eat large amounts and never gain an ounce. No more, however, the age gremlins have caught up with my waistline (and a few other parts). I had a sausage and egg biscuit this a.m., thanks to mr. kenju, who went out to Hardees earlier. Should I tell that I would have preferred eggs benedict?

I don't know, Carmi. I just don't know.

Ahhhhh, scrambled eggs!

My dream breakfast: coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, not-too-crispy bacon, buttered toast, and two or three sausage links.

Real breakfast: coffee and either yogurt with granola or a bowl of cereal.

Irish breakfast (enjoyed daily while there for 10 days): pot of tea, fried egg, toast or wheat soda bread with butter and jam, two sausage links, rashers - which was their version of bacon but was really two skinny slices of fried ham, and a half of a small tomato lightly fried.

Well, now I have a craving for friend eggs and bacon (pan-kissed if you please) on toast with a smidgeon of bbq sauce on the side. Accompanied by a large freshly brewed coffee with cream.

Shame it's dinner time here now...

Perfect breakfast: quiche Lorraine, fruit and biscuits. Next best: omelet, hash browns and biscuits. Usual: toat and orange juice.

But now I need to know -- what is that picture from your last post???

I'm having my usual Sunday breakfast...coffee.
But I'm starting to smell that bacon that Daisy mentioned, and some grits and eggs would be nice.

Visiting from Michelle's.

I had breakfast at McDonald's this morning. Ugggh. I had coffee, OJ, a Sausage McMuffin with egg and fries. Not a very healthy breakfast!!!

My ideal breakfast though would be: fried garlic rice, dried fish, tomatoes and sunny side up. A classic Filipino breakfast. :D

I don't really care that much for breakfast food. I do love waffles from time to time, but they're not the healthiest food.

Normally, I make a smoothie in the blender or have a hard-boiled egg. Hmmm... don't I sound exciting?

I also wanted to add that I've become wiser about eating slowly, and until I feel my hunger has been satisfied--not till I'm stuffed. Restaurants feed us more than what we should eat in a single meal, so I'll box up what I can't eat, and take it home to enjoy later. All-you-can-eat buffets and commercials are constantly bombarding us with distractions to keep us from listening to ourselves and our inner wisdom.
