I found myself back in the television studio today. This time out, I was chatting about blogs in China with Amanda Lang from Report on Business Television (ROBTv).
The link to her entire hour-long show, Taking Stock, is here. My segment starts right around the halfway mark. I'll apologize now, but you may need to scroll a bit back and forth until you get to it.
Your turn: I'd love to know what you all - with enough collective experience in blogging to write a book - think about this topic. I hope you'll watch the interview, then share your thoughts with me in a comment.
One more thing: I've been sick all week. That should explain why my voice sounds a bit rough. Suggestions for remedies are welcome. Enjoy!

Hi Carmi! I watched. You sounded fine, but I'm sorry you've been sick.
I don't have anything to add, but it is really fascinating. I assume they're writing in Chinese. I wish I could read some of them.
I worked with a nurse who swore by coffee, cigarettes, and tequila shots, but she did look pretty rough for 40. Tea and honey's always good, but I think chocolate milk shakes are the best--they make me feel better.
I will definitely watch the interview tomorrow morning, and give you some feedback once I've had some sleep.
remedies...
tea with honey and lemon.
Black tea has anti oxident properties and honey is a natural antibiotic...lemon has vit C. All good for you :)
get well soon!

Cold remedy: Hot tea with honey and lemon.
There are a few Bloggers like: Baghdad Burning (Riverbend) who published her blog in book form and won all kinds of awards in the UK and abroad.
My first book is going to press now - it is in the final editing process as we speak.
Feel better...
Jeremy
tea with Lemon and Honey and a shot of whisky(optional) always worked for me when I had laryngitis, also a warm cloth on the next right before a speaking engagement( or in your case a celebrity interview ;o)
The most efficient though is brown sugar on a spoon with just enough wiskey to cover the bs. I hope something helps if all else fails there aer always fishermans friends!!!
I am so glad I know you and have the pleasure of working with you Carmi, see you in less than 2 weeks!
I certainly don't have or will ever have enough experience to write a book but I thoroughly enjoyed the interview...was fascinating. I am amazed that china could even persieve of trying to control internet content with those vast numbers, as u said, there will be leaks and ultimately they will have to change tactics...or bust lol. Keep them coming carmi...enjoy it all..we saw u on CTV the other night talking about the burning laptops ...
I won't add any throat remedies, all the good ones have already been suggested lol, hope u feel better soon.
I was gonna say hot tea and honey too!! Works good!!
I am NOT a camera. But then I'm also not all that picturesque. As for remedies, I have none -- I'm a little on the unwell side myself.
I'm sick too, which is why I won't watch the video right now, but I want to let you know that Throat Coat Tea is my bestfriend.
Don't know if you can get it up there but we've got an over the counter product called Airborne that works fairly well if you take it early enough.
For a bunch of reasons they will never be able to completely control information, and I don't know what the outcome of trying to do so will be. The same techniques that work for getting around a company system designed to block sites will work for government imposed ones as well. There is the added complication of having someone in another country willing to help, but there will always be someone.
Michele sent me.
Terrific interview. Internet police? I wonder if the same thing happens in "free speech" society, but in a less public way. What do you think?
Michele sent me again though I initially thought I was going to Turkey to see Keda. But Canada and Carmi is far too welcoming to pass up.
My Lord but you cover a lot of topics, Carmi. Exploding batteries, digital cameras, blogs in China. But it's no wonder they're starting to come your way for expert opinions--so many talking heads don't know what they're talking about, it's refreshing to hear your expert testimony on these tech issues.
I've had a sore throat too...
We always mix a little cayenne pepper with some honey and lemon in hot water (or tea). The cayenne will stop a sore throat for a while.

I too thought you sounded fine... but i spose for us who only see a snippet of you on telly (which i see via your site etc) and to me it just sounds like you... funny that - would be strange for you to be sounding like someone else now wouldn't it... imagine you saying all your statistic stuff in Terminator Tone... "Git Owwwt... ewe aff biin Terminaded... laptop bitteries have biin rekalled..."
HAHAH - i make myself laugh!
Sore Throat? Why not try a lemon tea... hot enough to numb your throat but not too hot to scald it.
Dont like Lemon Tea? Well i think any tea will do. Tea is my priority when im sick.
Alternatively, gargle some warm salty water. Drink lots of water during the days, and try and avoid milky products as they put a layer on your sore throat that doesnt help it to heal. The more warmer drinks you can drink, the better your throat will feel - i've even heard of icey drinks helping - or have a strange sensation and put ice cubes in your tea for a soothing yet cooling feeling.
Try that when your throat aint so good next time (If you didnt already try them)... and come back in a week...
Im Doctor Ravvy, and this has been another public service announcement. :D
ok as i've been sent back by michele again... and commented before i'm here. i'm sorry it just takes so long to come through that i can't watch it now... :( but i will say congratulations and honey ginger and lemon/apple tea is the way to glory.
