Wet shoe diary

Droplets
Deerfield Beach, FL, December 2010
[Click here to share something wet]

After my daughter accidentally dripped on my shoe as she stepped out of the pool, she apologized. I stopped for a moment and considered why she'd even apologize in the first place.

I told her three things:
  1. It's a boat shoe. So no worries: These things are designed to get wet. Even if it isn't waterproof, who really cares? It's just a shoe.
  2. That's a neat set of droplets on it, don't you think?
  3. I should be thanking you for creating this too-cool visual.
So I did. And then pulled the camera out and pointed it down. Once again, I had been inspired by one of our kids. I don't think my work - in words or in pictures - would be anywhere near as much fun if I didn't have them.

Your turn: How do others inspire you to create?

When I first joined Blogger I surfed around and found this blog:http://mymaneblowinginthewind.blogspot.com/2011/01/2011-daily-journal-pagesday-280.html
Virginia lives north of me and we've become good friends.. the title was what got me, I also saw how carefree she was on her page...She is talented and creative in her journals.. so much that she got me doing art journals.. I've learned a lot from her.. I found a spontaneous, creative side of me, that before I couldn't see because of other obligations I had... The artsy journal pages are cathartic for me.. Ideas, hopes and beliefs of mine are on those pages that I post... People like V. are an asset to me.

thank you for visiting me and leaving a comment on my poems, The Silence Seeps and The Silence Sleeps. Those poems were written after my parents passed on in 2003 where, silence, did some strange things in my mind at the time. :)

Great post! Photo's are awesome!

Yes, my kids and grandkids inspire me, not so much to be creative but to be a better person, parent, adult etc. Their youthful energy and excitement about life, remind me to be the same.

Interacting and connecting with talented/gifted people inspire me to exercise my own talents and creativity.

thank you again

the journalist world is fortunate to have you in it

take care
Hope

Actually pretty much everything can inspire me, but I believe we really stop and pay attention to those things closest to us, and especially our heart....gather all those precious moments and keep them close, everything in life is there for our taking and learning! Don't you think?

Carmi,
Thank you for stopping by my place for a visit! and that so fits for your question today; My son, inspires me to be creative because once I am gone and I pray to God it won't be for a long time, I will be able to give him the scrapbooks so he has the books of our lives to always look back on and share with his children. I do it for him, but I also do it for me becuase I love the creative mind and putting colors together and thinking..aren't children wonderful?
I really think the photo is cool and I liked your response to her; it's just a shoe!

Thank you so much for your kind words on my blog. I hope your mother-in-law is well now.

I love this image and this post. I am so inspired by my children in many ways. Last year my daughter drew the cutest little creature and she inspired me, so I created a crochet creature based on her design!

This may sound a bit strange, but sometimes I am inspired to document beauty (via photography or prose) because there is so much in the world around us that is horrific and ugly and loud -- and it is easy to focus on those awful words and images. I'm not saying that we should ignore such things, but shouldn't our response be one of comfort and peace instead of adding to the pain?
That is how I am thinking today.

for me it's not so much people but everything around me that inspire me from raindrops to children laughing

I write about anything around me that strikes me, and that of course includes people. The people who create movies/TV shows, make artwork and write books and blogs inspire me to write and create more and more.

i couldn't say that any ONE thing inspires me. i get inspired by nature...by all the little things...i see around me...people, places, bugs, a leaf, a crack in the cement, a cloud...

i like how you MAKE me think! :]
