Wordless Wednesday - Happy potatoes

When dinner smiles back at you
London, ON, October 2008

About this photo: It's happy week all week long. There's still time to contribute to Thematic Photographic's happy theme (click here to get started.) I'll post a new entry with a new theme on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET (yes, precisely.) Scroll down to the bottom of this entry if you want a sneak peek.
We've done a fairly good job winnowing down the amount of fried foods that make it into our kids' tummies. But french fries still find their way on occasion onto the dinner plate. I guess if they have to have an addiction, it may as well be potatoes lovingly prepared by their mom.

The current favorite is the happy face fry. They swear they taste better than the conventionally shaped variety, but the cynic in me believes that's only because they're smiling as they chew.

Your turn: Can you not smile when this appears in front of you at dinner time? Got any other happy food experiences?

One more thing: Because you're all so special, I'll let you in on the secret a little early. Our next Thematic Photographic theme is night. The photo will be up Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET - hope to see you then!

Night? Now that's a theme you know I'm all over!

You did that one just for me didn't ya?

I did finally find something that said "happy" to me in a unique (and I suppose slightly twisted in some opinions) sort of way.

happy food moment: whenever we go to A&W, we order a HUGEmongous rootbeer float and 5 straws. you get as much of the float as you can suck down before it's gone.

it's loud and funny and we all end up with massive brain-freeze but we just can't stop the insanity of it all.

Potatoes! I actually thought they were gingerbread heads. ;) What a great idea. Fortunately for me, I have a teenager at home and there absolutely no struggles getting him to eat. ;)

Thanks for your visit to my blog today. It looks like I too have a new read.

I am a big fan of potatoes, no matter how they are prepared. I even like them raw. Those make me smile and I don't know how anyone couldn't smile on seeing them!!

I didn't even know they made those. Hey, from the mom of two picky eaters, whatever it takes.

ummm...looks good, but no kids here...so, might do a doggie smiley face biscuit. And might have to try the Thursday pic thingy. Enjoy your Wed.

If they're the same ones we get down here, they ARE better than regular fries, because they're basically fried mashed potatoes.
