Pretty exciting news out of England this morning. They're examining a radio signal from deep space that they suspect could be from an alien species. Of course, the good folks from SETI are denying it until the cows come home, but I'd rather be an idealist than a fatalist.
That's because I've never been so arrogant to believe that humans are the only life forms in the entire universe (heaven forbid if we are.) Of all the bazillions of galaxies, solar systems and planets, there's no way that Earth can be the absolute, only place that sustains life.
I'm also not so naive as to believe that life always takes on a hominid-like shape, with two arms, two legs, and a head. Sci-fi movie directors take note: you need to use a little more imagination in your future work, k?

and the first message will be something like the upstairs neighbor stomping on the floor yelling "Turn that noise down!"
