Welcome back to Thematic Photographic. This weekly photo challenge has become a highlight for me, and I hope for you, too!
This week's theme is...signs!
They're quite literally everywhere, telling us where to go and what to do (or not to do, as the case may be.) It's easy to let them fade into the background - and I suspect most of us do just that as we try to navigate our way around without getting flattened in the process. But sometimes, you come across a sign that makes you pause and think.
As you post and share your sign-themed photos this week, I hope you'll take a bit of time to ponder the meaning of signs. I also hope you'll share a thought or two about them along the way. Most of all, I hope you have fun with it.
Your turn: Here are the Thematic Photographic guidelines:
- I post a new entry every Wednesday evening.
- Each entry has a unique theme. This week's is...signs!
- You post a similarly themed image over on your blog.
- You paste a link to your entry in a comment here.
- If you've already posted something that fits (on a blog, Facebook, MySpace, wherever) simply post the link to the existing entry.
- You may post one per day, many per day, one each day of the entire week, whatever suits your fancy. This is all about sharing, so feel free to share to your heart's content!
- Please share this link with friends, too. I like when lots of folks have fun with photography.
This is an AWESOME theme.. I'm pretty busy since I'm about to go away for a bit, but I use to collect pics of funny signs... SO all I have to do is hunt for the pictures I took
oooo signs. i have one i'm going to put up right now. :)
here's the link:
i have such a fun sign, found in costa rica on a visit this past winter...in the window of very nice but ordinary little t-shirt/surfer clothes store. here is the link:
My sister and I share our blog. This is from her photo album.

great idea thanks
Cool site. If only my camera and photo skills didn't suck.
Thanks for comment on DadCentric. Hope to see you again soon.
You know, I used to dread Wednesdays... It's garbage day, it's the middle of the week, and usually if grumptastic things are going to fall upon one, it typically seems to happen on a Wednesday. I just want to say, you've brought so much light into my mid-week crisis with thematic photographic. I actually almost look forward to Wednesdays now. Thank you, sir.
I'm up over here
Great theme, Carmi :)
I just wrote a post with a "sign" picture. Memories of "expensive" gas!
November 2005: Thematic Photographic 9 - Signs on Allison Says.
Here's one I posted a few weeks back which rather amused me
Oh that's another wide-open topic
We should get some interesting contributions. My first for the week is up
Ours is up, a reflection of our day yesterday! You will see what I mean!
Ever been to Powersville? Met the town dogs?
I can give you directions.
Cheers, Gord H.
This photo is great, Carmi. The stark parking ramp does well in black and white.
HERE is my first contribution to this week's theme.
Thanks for another week!
I have a past post that fits the theme.
my first thematic photographic! thanks for starting this!
Another fun theme! How do you come up with them? Anyway, here's one from my archives: Entering Delaware
Here's another one from me
YAY for this week's theme! I could do one a day for a month. I will try to post as many as I can between now and next Wednesday. I also managed to work an IMPROGGING(http://improgging.blogspot.com) word in too!
My Thematic Photographic post today comes all the way from Brazil. Take a look at a place called POTTY
I have spewed signs all over my blog, and it's not even the half of it! I love this theme! (Do I say that every week? No... surely not. Really?)
I can't wait to go 'round to see everybody else's signs!
First installment (with more to come) are posted: here
I love sign themes. You can tell this photo wasn't taken in the USA!
Know how I know? If it were the US, there would have been at least 3 cars parked in the NO PARKING zone with tickets on them :)
Signs is an awsome theme. I have a couple, I'm saving one for Wordless Wednesday but here is one for now. :)
the first photo in my album on our blog is the window of a store in perth, ontario. obviously someone who cares very deeply about shoes.
Hey Carmi! I have been wrestling with blogger all week! FINALLY have uploaded a few signs from my trip to the UK in May. Hope you all enjoy.
My first entry. http://wedsoff.com/2008_08_01_wedsarchive.html#2876366373049435406
I'm a little later this week. It's been crazy around here!
signs I love
I'm enjoying this one! Here are mine so far:
This one's not on my blog, I'm posting a direct link because it's hilarious. The result of a restaurant in Beijing relying on a computer to translate its name into English for the benefit of Olympic Games visitors
I've posted two, one here and one here.
Got another one for you!
Here's a photo of a sign that I saw when I was in Israel in January this year - this was in the hotel lobby in Tel Aviv: http://dragongirl76.blogspot.com/2008/01/sign-in-hotel-lobby.html
Finally made it - better late than never, right?
It's actually my mom's picture, but she doesn't blog. So I confiscated it. I have some more signs, so will get them up in the next day or two.
Here's my second contribution of signs for this week's theme - some Southern goodies from our local Farmer's Market.
Farmer's Market Signs
Mine's up too. It's a lesson in language.
Thanks for hosting.
My clock says 11:18pm, so considered me submitted. This is a cool idea, and I'll certainly be back for what comes next.
I've been meaning to pop in here, and Sarcasmom's sign post reminded me of a sign I saw years and years ago in Ireland -- so-and-so's pub. I took a picture, meant to send to it to so-and-so, and wouldn't you know, I corrupted the memory card and lost it!! oh well, but that was a tough tech lesson!
