The world around him brews with chaos, but Noah's focus on his own play is absolute.
I must have watched him for ages, and could have watched him indefinitely if we had had the time. He was so deep in his playworld that he didn't even know I was there.
May he always be able to find his own bliss wherever he is. May the rest of us have the wisdom to follow his lead.

Love that. We used to live five minutes from the beach when Lucas was small. I have so many wonderful pictures and memories from that time.
Here via michele again!
Last year, taking my boy to the beach was exhausting. He wouldn't sit for a second. I was constantly having to chase after him as he headed for the surf. I'm eager for the time when he'll sit, dig, and discover. (Maybe I'll be able to relax!)
Hey Carmi! I love this - it totally brings back memories for me. I've spent many winters on that very stretch of beach when my dad lived in Deerfield. Even though it's been many years since I was that small, I can still remember being lost in the feeling of the sun and the ocean, thinking my own thoughts and praying the day would never end. Childhood at its best!
My son is able to hyperfocus like that. It's something he learned from me. I can zone out on something fun or interesting (or both) and not hear or see a thing around me. I think this is such a wonderful quality in young children. Don't you wish you could be so involved in such a simple activity like playing in the sand?
Here from Michele, but I want to come back and comment more on some of the posts underneath.
Yes if we could all hold onto it the world would be a better place! Here from Michele's again
ham you are such a fibber, Carmi! you said you were packing up the laptop! ;) here from michele's.
Very sweet post, Carmi. I love the beach... any beach... and would like to be sitting on on right now! Back from Michele's!
Beautiful sentiments to go with a beautiful picture. Good evening Carmi, here from Michele's tonight. Have a good flight!
Looks like a lot of fun. Wouldn't it be nice to bring back the hands of time?
Have a nice trip!

What a great picture. I have friends in Deerfield Beach..you shoulda told me you were going, I would have had them take you around to all the cool places! Here via Michele!
i absolutely LOVE that picture. it emanates everything that i love about the beach AND about being a kid. beautiful carmi!
i'm here from michele's tonight!
aweseome picture - as always. The perspective is what makes it so unique. It follows your "look down" theory of a few posts back.
dude - you gotta go to bed - I can't believe I'm seeing you at this time! (remember, it's 9:00 a.m. for me!)
Refreshing to see them engrossed in something other than technology, isn't it? What a prcious child.
Amen, dear Carmi! I couldn't agree more. Your boy being so immersed in his own play and place has got to be pure pure bliss! And I'll take that anytime!
Here from Michele tonight...
