Industrial disease

What does this building do?

The scene: a newly-opened paintball facility on the edge of a gritty industrial stretch on the east side of town. The parking lot is an uneven, gravel-topped mess, the insides are post-skateboarder punk and I stand here on a hot, hazy afternoon wondering who would have a kid's birthday party here.

Yet this was where my son's friend wanted it, so this was where I found myself. Half-expecting the experience to be visually rich, I toted my camera along. I'm glad I did. The orange building you see here is next-door. I'm not sure what goes on inside, but the outside was more than enough to attract my attention. Chops to whoever chose the exterior color.

You see some neat things in the not-so-big city when you go outside your comfort zone.

Your turn: What kinds of things do you see when you go outside your usual comfort zone?

I can understand the paintball party. It would fit right in with some of the children I know being raised by macho parents on steroids.

My grandson however would have declined regardless of our close he was to the birthday person.

However if going and capturing this photo is what inspired the Orange theme this week I am grateful. I actually dug into some archives that needed work and found future blog post I had long forgotten to write. I thank you for that.

PS. I do love the color of this building.

I'm laughing at the kid's choice of a place to go! :)

That's right by the round-about, right? I've always wondered if the paintball by there is good or not. Did your son and his friend enjoy themselves?

No - I don't like this colour at all. Your heading is spot on - it looks diseased to me!
