Bikes, horses, and other wonders

It feels cathartic to roll the bike slowly through the early morning air that blankets the neighbourhood, only to mash the pedals with abandon once I turn onto the arterial road that leads to the countryside.

Before long, the city gives way to endless fields of green, and all I hear is the wind in my ears. Nothing else matters beyond maintaining my pace for as long as my legs allow.

That, in a nutshell, is what an ideal Sunday morning looks like in my world. Just about the only way to top it would be to throw in some horses.

And on this morning, at least, they’re out grazing in the pasture as I head east into the sun. So nice of them, I think to myself, as I double back for a closer look.

Looks like we all needed a little pause before getting on with our day.
