A good yarn

Colorful scene from a market table
Shanghai, China, May 2007 [Click to embiggen]

I walk more slowly than most. When I was a kid, it was because my hips were screwy. Eventually, that got fixed, but I continued to walk like a turtle. See, I'm an observer. I stare at things as I walk by. I often pause to mull over a given scene while whoever I might be with continues ahead.

I know that this can be annoying. Perhaps to keep the annoyance to a minimum, my wife has evolved The Look. I know that whenever she gives it to me, I've pushed it too far, and must get my legs moving again.

But this day - May 8th - was my birthday, and I found myself half a world away from her, walking through a market teeming with scenes that competed for my eye's attention. This colorful slice beckoned from a nearby table. I captured it quickly before scooting to rejoin my colleagues.

Your turn: What captures your eye as you walk along a busy street?

Michele sent me here.

My 100th TWQ is on now. I hope you have your dinner guest selection.

It all depends on where I am. I love tall buildings, especially the ones with unique designs. Anything with really bright colors...especially flowers. Babies. Dogs. I could go on but then you would be tempted to ban me because it would turn into a really long post. :) I am an equal opportunity observer.

Anything colorful does, Carmi, just like you. I have to admit that since I started reading your blog and seeing your photos, I look at the world more closely than I used to. Thanks for making me stop to see more detail!

First off...a very Happy Belated Birthday to you, Carmi! May the year hold all that you're wishing for.
And that yarn would certainly capture me....to purchase some, as I love to knit!
LOVE the colors...great photo.

You know me I think.....I try to observe EVERYTHING on a busy street...

Take care...

I love the color in this photograph.

I am also a slow walker. Is there any other way to see the world?! Flowers usually catch my eye and also the faces of people. I am fascinated with the sky, so clouds and sunsets are a biggie.

Anything and everything... funny to read this - I'm a "slow-walker" too! :) Actually, I walk quite fast on long legs, since I'm always hurrying because I'm late... but I'm always late because I'm always slow... does that make any sense?! :) There are just too many things to stop and observe and details to attend to along the way, and then I have to hurry and catch up all the time I "lost."

I LOVE this picture...it is so colorful and I love that one can actually see the texture in such a clear clean way...! As always, you have this unique vision of things and share it with all of us with your camera and your extremely discerning and Artful Eye!

A Very Very Late & Belated Happy Birthday Carmi...A month late! (lol)...But, better late than never.
