Talking head - and some cool blog news

I was a talking head earlier today, speaking with Business News Network's Pat Bolland about Nortel's just-announced earnings. If you have the stomach to watch me on television, click here to see the interview.

What I really want to talk about, however, is the new blog that we've launched at work. Yup, I've got another blog (!) It's called Words@Work, and it's hosted by my firm, AR Communications. This blog will allow us to explore the world of corporate blogging, and will allow us to help our clients determine whether blogs and other new media make sense. And if they do, we'll help them figure out how to incorporate these evolving resources into their corporate communication infrastructure.

I'll be posting to it a couple of times a week, and invite you all to drop your thoughts in a comment whenever you feel the urge. We've got a few entries up, and we're in the process of moving beyond our initial soft launch phase (read, we're telling the world about it now, and I won't complain if you help spread the word.)

I hope you'll come along for the ride, and consider adding Words@Work to your list of regular reads.

Key links:
Your turn: I don't think the gee-whiz feeling of being on TV will ever go away. Why is that?

One more thing: Written Inc. isn't going anywhere. It will continue to exist, strongly, as the personal blog of a guy named Carmi. Words@Work will be a professionally-focused resource.

How exciting about your new blog!!! That's wonderful news Carmi!
I missed the earthquake in Vanuatu for reasons explained on my blog, but from what I hear it was the northern islands that were most affected... In Port Vila they just felt a slight tremor. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your concern.

Congrats, Carmi! It's exciting watching your career grow and change. Where do you find the time for all this?

I've never been on TV, but I certainly hope I never lose that 'gosh golly' feeling of being published. In my case I think I keep experiencing that feeling because any success I've had, has happened as a middle-aged adult. It's a welcomed surprise and I'm still 'too young' in my biz to feel cynical or jaded. I hope I never feel that way, and I wish the same for you!

It looks like things are going very well for you Carmi and I'm so pleased! Though I don't truly 'know' you (except through this fascinating world of blog), it's pretty easy to tell that you are a kind and conscientious person. I watched your interview and it was fun to catch a glimpse of who you are. Pictures are one thing, but to hear someone speak and see his expressions, we are allowed the opportunity to see another level.

Congratulations in all your success - but moreso, for getting things right and realizing what is important in this life.

Congratulations on your new blog. I'm definitely interested in the use of new media in business, so I'll be sure to check it out.

In fact, it may inspire me to finally write the post I've been planning on college admissions blogs.

Here from Michele.

Carmi,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. the comment about it being a "delight" just made me all warm and fuzzy.
I think you make an excellent talking head and I'm looking forward to finding some time this evening to go through your new blog as well.
As far as the thrill of being on tv, I hope it doesn't ever go away for you. I know I still have a happy moment seeing my name in print on articles or training material. The tv thing would just be way cool.
BTW, I hope you don't mind but I added you to my blog roll so I can come back and read more here.

You're so popular, Carmi! It seems everybody wants a piece of you: TV, radio, the blogosphere...

I think you're so tickled by being featured on TV because you enjoy being in the spotlight. All (public) bloggers must have at least some element of narcissism driving them to make their thoughts/opinions/life events into subject material. Otherwise, why bother?

But it's awesome that you continue to have that "gee-whiz" feeling, because that means you've retained sufficient humility, something not everyone in the public eye can claim. :)

Michele did not send me today, btw - sadly haven't been there in ages, either. I'm just one of your adoring fans. ;-)

carmi - thanks for stopping by at my place ... and the new blog looks posh.

re TV - well, I work in TV and have done for over 20 years. I have never got over the feeling of magic - I mean I see what goes on on the studio floor and then gets through brick walls, through metal, through glass, round corners and into your home. Surely that's magic!

So is that the demise of written Inc?

I watched you Carmi and was very impressed. You look so young and I love the elegant way you are presented - jacket, tie etc. So many of our presenters now look as if they are sitting in their own garden - even on a Sunday and I think it shows a lack of respect for the viewer. but then I'm just old-fashioned.
all best wished to you and also from Michele.
