North meets South

Pick a direction
Crittenden, KY, January 2009

About this photo: Thematic Photographic hits the road this week. Click here for more.
For what it's worth, we headed north just after this picture was taken. Our everyday life - and a Canadian winter - awaited us as memories of a warm beach and good times with family faded in the rear view mirror.

What we wouldn't give to have the freedom to go in any direction we please.

Your turn: With that thought in mind, where would you go if reality didn't rear its ugly head?

Hobart Tazmania. I would sit by the beach with cold drinks and my hot wife. We would while away the days being actively bored.
Don't worry though, we would watch Bugs Bunny cartoons to learn how to deal with those pesky Tazmanian Devils.

I've driven that highway many times in the backseat of my parents car to and from the Sunshine State.... :)

Where would I go? I'd hop a plane and head to Europe with a pack on my back and my camera strapped over my shoulder. Can I go now please?

Yogi Berra also told the chef at a pizza parlor to cut his pie in six slices because he didn't think he could eat eight.

Needless to say, I'd go to a pizza place.

To the beach but I hate the drive. After going up on a six mile wide peninsula with waster all around it's hard to be 5 hours from the sea. If it doesn't rain tomorrow maybe I'll make it to the pool and christen the season that way. Netchick would like it.

I'd like to go to Alaska.

I used to know I-75 very well. In the last three years, it's I-95.

Hey, South of the Border has a couple of new signs, more classy, not funny like the old ones, but the old ones are still there.

I have another post about roads.

I would backpack the Wonderland Trail--90 miles around Mt. Rainier--and later do the Pacific Crest Trail from Washington to California. Not likely to happen with these 63 year old bones. I will, however, walk 60 miles for Breast Cancer Research again this fall.

Wow! There are many places I've never seen. I feel a car trip with a special girl to Idaho, Seattle, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa, and Nebraska (maybe not all on the same outing) would be so cool. I've never been to these places. Plus you learn alot about someone during a car trip with plenty of time to talk and listen. So, maybe one state at a time! :)
