Flames of Winter

A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

I couldn't agree more. I find myself letting the photos speak for themselves more and more all the time. Like this one.
Thematic Photographic 63: "Summer" - v.4.0 "Shoot Early, Shoot Often"
I understand the need for that, from time to time, but in the case of you and Mojo, it is criminal. Both of you are very good with words!!
You know how correct you are on this. I think there are many times when I just want to be away from everything and just recharge myself. It doesn't have to be for long but boy it sure is needed every now and then.
It would seem that discussing quiet might detract from the joy of it... just kidding.
I have found the last few months that I stay up way too late, depriving myself of sleep, because it is the first part of the day when everyone is silent and the only sound is the fan, the tree frogs, the hum of the fridge. When I was younger I didn't need this silence. Now I can't function without at least a half hour of quiet a day. When did that happen?
I'd like to dive in!
AND -- I used to never comment on my photos, and found very few people bothered to comment on my site. When I asked why, I was told that I didn't comment, so they didn't. I started writing two or three lines and now my comment box is getting some use.
To every season there is a time... a time to write and a time to let ones hands rest in ones lap.
I love this photo, Carmi! :)
I love "quiet" too, I guess that's another reason while I love living in Mid Wales, it's quiet & peaceful... well, apart from the cows mooing, the sheep baaing and the church bells ringing!
I love the silence, I think it's good for me to take a brake and just be myself. And read a book.
And were I took this photo thers's a lot of silence. Maybe not at just that moment, five woman laughing and playing...

Are you still feeling silent after a night of sleeping? Your photo reminds me that our local pool is closing soon. Gotta get the girl there if I can!
I really like this photo !
cool, and refreshing
"the joys of quiet, please discuss...."
Am understanding BlondGirl and the desire to stay awake after our households have folded down for the night. Listening to the sounds we so often never hear...like the fridge and our water pipes easing their way into the small hours.
I loose myself in the quiet as the dogs are walked and as my hands pick the blackberries or the bilberries .....while my mind wanders well beyond the sterilised jars.
Funny observation about twitter, fb, etc. .... I feel like they aren't convenient for saying enough .... I guess they hover somewhere on the meter between saying nothing or saying too much. Socially easy.
