Please don't fall Grand Bend, ON July 2012 |
The more time I spend on this planet, the more I realize that most things aren't quite where they should be. They're often askance, askew or simply crooked. Or maybe I'm just looking at them from the wrong perspective.
Regardless, it's hellishly fun to play with angles within a medium limited to two dimensions. If the straight-on picture is considered boring or routine, does an angled shot make it all worthwhile? We've got a week to find out, and I suspect our new Thematic theme, at an angle, is going to be an interesting one.
Your turn: Please take a picture of something at an angle. It could be leaning. Or it could be straight and you've simply twisted your head a bit. If it looks like an angle - or even suggests it - pop it onto your blog. When you're done, leave a comment here letting other folks know where to find it. Visit other participants to share the photographic loveliness of it all - as that's the point of this exercise, to learn and to share. For more background on how Thematic works, point your mouse here.

I can't believe I'm the first one to post -- and I haven't played this game in a long time. How lucky is that?!
Here are my angles: http://secondwindjewelry.com/jewelry-weaving-blog/2012/09/lines-angles/

That is an awesome photo. If the fence was standing straight up, it would be great. With the fence at a different angle, it's amazing!
I love things that come with a little twist. Shapes and events that have deviated from the norm, but still preserve their identity.
This week, I chose hot words and a cold image. Both a bit crocked ;-)

Carmi: My internist has a sense of humor, and each examining room is decorated with memorabilia from the movies. One poster on the wall uses images of angles to challenge the reader as to whether or not a line is straight, or if a circle is larger than others in a group. Your post reminded me of this!
Carmi, I've noticed that most of my photos are a bit off kilter, as if that's how I view the world! Not quite as much as this one, tho:

by the way...what is that tower in your picture? It makes a nice contrast with the leaning fence...
hey carmi, nice photo. angles. hmm....there are all sorts of them, aren't there? what fun—i can play today. totally by coincidence, i just posted some angles.
I have to agree with the others, the angle of this fence makes the shot. Excellent capture.
I have one for this theme was one of those accidentally shots worth saving.

I'm still posting about Venice!
Angles often make a shot just like that fence. Here's some more.

I totally forgot to mention what a cool capture you shot. That fence that's nearly ready to fall over is just what we use around here for that white stuff that falls (you know when) I so like your angle in this, and that white sand is an angle I'd love to run through!
That fence needs a little support, must get a bit windy along that beach.
Here's mine.
I've got a house and some other stuff.
I'll be visiting when I can!

Carmi, I am adding another shot of the same location as yesterday but from a different perspective.
