On never keeping silent

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King never fails to move me with the eloquence and power of his words. How I wish the world still had him.

Your turn: What will prompt you to speak up?

What makes me speak up is anything that is illogical... I can't deal w/illogical people, views... whatever...Nonsensical solutions that big wigs spout off... especially when they think they can fool the general public.

When you speak up, you are drowned out by the shouting political pandering passing itself off as debate, and by the Roman bread and circus media.Perhaps this world needs more silence so the important thoughts could be heard.

I speak up when my kids are negatively affected by something. Every Time.

Me too! My favorite quote was from his "I Have a Dream" Speech... "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." It still sounds like words to live by to me. ~ j///b

I speak up when I see someone being mistreated, nobody has any right to treat anyone as "less than". I'm an advocate when it comes to peoples rights, especially the less fortunate or minorities who tend not be heard. The more educated I become the less fearful I am to speak up, I am acquiring the knowledge to back up my words which is generally useful. ;-)

Have a great day Carmi!
